In addition, you will have the opportunity to discuss your questions with the facilitator, Julie Crothers, vice president at Edelman, the world’s largest independent PR firm. Before joining Edelman’s Financial Communications Group, Julie worked in PR at Morningstar and at investment firms for more than 15 years.

Positioning Products in Consultant Databases

How do consultants decide which investment managers to include in searches? How investment products appear in consultant databases is an extremely important facet to a consultant's inclusion criteria. However, it can be difficult for managers to know the best way to present a strategy's key characteristics to consultants, especially for products such as 130-30 strategies, hedge funds or derivatives-based investments. In databases, information can be difficult to modify or footnote and thus may be misrepresented due to its alternative and unique nature.
In this "Meeting of the Minds" PAICR members from manager firms will have an opportunity to sit at the same table with consultant database managers and research analysts. The goal of this 1-2 hour meeting will be to determine what steps can be taken to improve the dialogue between managers and consultants regarding issues related to positioning products in consultant databases.
On the consultant/database side, we have already confirmed participants from Wilshire Associates, Watson Wyatt, eVestment Alliance, A.S.A.P. Advisors and Informa, with more RSVP'ing every day.
